Memorial Day Weekend

BUS TRIP 2005 POEM

Judy Scherrer

On the day we were to leave
The Sun was barely risen.
So I got up out of bed
To assess the shape I'm in.

Suitcase packed and closed
Records loaded in the car,
We headed toward our meeting place
Then pulled into our parking place.

We saw several new people
That were new to this trip,
And we're so glad to have them
As they are all very hip.

Where would we go?
What would we do?
Time to get started
We're ready to move!

Our first rest stop turned out to be
A place to buy some candy.
What better place to make a pit stop
That includes candy, ice cream, and the pot.
Soon we stopped for lunch in Joplin
With several places to eat.
I almost bought some jewelry
But thought the prices could be beat.

Our bus stopped at the Doubletree
Tulsa it would be.
We had a great dance in the hotel
Giving us something more to go tell.

Sunday was quite a day
There was nothing we could want.
We tasted wine, saw the vines,
And ate at Joseph's restaurant.

We were able to dance at the winery.
Our clothes were casual finery.
A great time was had by all
Dancing in the winery hall.

The trip to Tulsa was all great fun,
Mainly seeing everyone.
The only way to bring more cheer
Is for us to meet again next year!
